TBYC Outstations

In addition to Ekins Point, TBYC has maintained slips at four marinas, strategically located along well traveled boating routes on the Sunshine coast and Vancouver island. Slips are leased for the exclusive use of our members, ensuring that those who enjoy cruising the coast can do so as part of the benefits of membership.

  • Bowen Island

Bowen Island is only 8 nautical miles north west of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Located on the east side of Bowen Island in Snug Cove, Union Steam Ship Co. Marina (USSC) offers a first class year round facility featuring an historic turn of the century village.

    TBYC has 4 slips available, 24 hours a day along B dock, ( 25,27,29,31 ) as well as one 90' slip located at the beginning of B dock ( 5 & 7).

See map for reference. Members are required to pay for power at the office and sign into the log book located on the dock.

The marina has 30 amp and 50 amp service, free Wi-Fi, water, laundry and showers in the boater's lounge. In addition, the marina offers a pump out station.

NOTE: Bowen Island is exceptionally popular during the summer months and all slips are on a first come first serve basis.

  • Gibsons

Located at the south end of the Sunshine Coast just north of Vancouver, Gibsons is a quaint town of artists and fishing boats. Perched on a hillside, it overlooks the harbour and faces nearby islands in Howe Sound.

TBYC has 3 slips available along B dock, (B7, 8, and 9)  See map for reference. Members are required to pay for power at the office and log your visit in the log book located at the dock.

Gibsons is perhaps most famously known as the location for the longtime hit TV show The Beachcombers, which first aired in 1972 and ran until 1990. Molly's Reach is still operated as a popular restaurant today.

NOTE: The Marina reserves the right to rent TBYC slips to non members if they are left vacant after 5pm.  Non members must vacate the slips by 11am the following morning.

  • Silva Bay

Silva Bay Marina offers safe, permanent and year round transient moorage for traveling mariners and is located on the island of Gabriola which is known as the "Island of the Arts".

Our dock space is located on the outside of D dock for a total of 180' of moorage for the club. Members are required to pay for power at the office and sign into the log book located on the dock. There is a small liquor store at the office, and fuel is available at Pages Marina, located beside Silva Bay Marina.

Gabriola Island is the most Northern of the Southern Gulf Island chain and is a short distance from the city of Nanaimo and the town of Ladysmith on Vancouver Island. Silva Bay is the best spot for mariners coming across Georgia Strait to or from the mainland.

  • Pender Harbour

Pender Harbour is a harbour on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, on the east side of Malaspina Strait. Often called “the Venice of the North”, the harbour is an intricate amalgam of bays and coves that encroach inland for five kilometres and provide over sixty kilometres of shoreline.

TBYC has 100' of dock space at the Pender Harbour Resort and Marina, on the outside of the main float and rafting permitted.  Additionally, slips D76 and D77 are available for club use. Members are required to pay for power and sign into the log book located on the dock.

Once a steamer stop, a fishing village, and an important logging and medical waypoint, it is now an unincorporated community within the Sunshine Coast Regional District. Madiera Park has a grocery store, pharmacy and liquor store, all just a short walk from the government docks. In addition, John Henry's General Store is also a fun place to visit.

A word about our Outstations

Our outstations have always operated on a first come basis.  If you expect to arrive late and call ahead to the Marina Operator, all you have done is reserve this space for a Thunderbird boat, not necessarily yours, as another member may arrive before you.  Similarly, if you decide to go out for a cruise or to fish, you may not leave a dinghy in place for you return later that day.  Any Thunderbird boat can take that space while you are gone.  TBYC burgees MUST BE FLOWN at all outstations. Members are requested to limit their stay at any one outstation to 3 days when busy so that others may enjoy the marina as well.  If rafting is permitted, members are reminded that this is a long standing tradition and members are requested to co-operate when asked.
